This is what my eggplants looked like yesterday. And today we cooked one ... yuk :(

... we'll be looking for a new recipe.

It was supposed to rain most of the day yesterday so we didn't make plans to go anywhere. It didn't rain so I finally started watering just before dark. I water each area about a 1/2 hour which isn't much more than to keep the dust down.

Then today we got about one inch of rain during the day. Later it was dry enough to mow so I went to get some gas for the lawn mower and we got another tenth of an inch while I was gone. I see that one of the neighbors a couple of blocks away has a huge part of their garage covered by a tree branch that had broken off.

Besides the eggplant, tonight we also used celery from the garden in our chicken noodle salad and had a few ears of corn. Some of the 1st planting of corn is getting too big and the 3rd planting was just right. Haven't tried the 2nd planting yet.

No one wants what are left of the peas so I tore them all down and moved my tall fence from the peas to up against the outside fence so that the water melon could climb on it. We now have one water melon that is twice the size as the one we picked and I finally saw a second one. About the size of a magic marker. It is hanging on the fence so it should be easy to see.

Bunnies. Something must have scared them. I used to be able to walk to within six feet of them before they would move a few feet. Now they run as soon as they seem me. Fast.

Picked a couple of tomatoes, the larger ones. They were stuck between the main stalk and the cage so I kind of had to squish one to get it out. Wife said it was good. Lots more to come. Only one plant that hasn't had a red one yet. Those are the big huge ones, I hadn't planned on getting any that big, but opps. We've had a problem of they getting rotten before they rippen.

Need to find some seeds to plant where I'm taking down the corn. May end up planting radishs.
