It didn't get within 10 degrees of freezing last night.

I had thought about that earlier in the day yesterday. Lots of rain, warm air. But at 8 pm on the forecast was still for a freeze so out I went.

Then today it hadn't shown it was going to freeze tonight. Until 8 PM I see the forecast has changed. So I go out and pick the four squash that I had missed last night in the dark. Not any easier to find, but this time I knew there were four so I kept looking.

And tonight I do think it will freeze. Still, clear, full moon. Frost.

We haven't cut into any of the acorn squash yet, maybe tomorrow. And tomorrow would be a good day to get the carrots and beets too. Then I am done.

We did cut into the three watermelon today. Two were not ready, still mostly rind. The third one was good, not as many seeds as the prior one. So we had seven watermelon this year. We picked one too early. We gave one away. One rotted on the vine. And then we had a good one. Plus the three today. If I can get them in early, I will try them again.

Spent some time raking the area I rototilled yesterday. I'm guessing it is too late for many of the runners to take but I will transplant them and see what happens.

Just read a little on mowing the strawberries, don't do it after the 1st of August so I guess not this year.

I also spent some time today pulling up the vines and plants for the stuff that is done for the year.

Haven't started raking leaves from the yard to the garden. Trees aren't quite done for the year.
