According to the plant date, corn on this planting should be ready Aug 17. Today is July 19.

I am hoping that my corn that should have been ready on July 1 is ready in a couple of days. I was going to open an ear today but they aren't very big around. And a 2nd planting should have been ready on July 14.

After we took this picture, my wife wanted a closer look at the fair sized watermelon. She went in for a closer look and realized it was no longer attached to the plant. It was still attached to the vine with a couple of green leaves, but they must have been pulling their life from the watermelon. We cut it open later and it was not ready :(

At some point I had been weeding near the squash that isn't doing so well. Weeding so the yard isn't so close to it so it isn't competing for water. And I found BEES. They don't seem aggressive but I keep turning the dirt in hopes they find a new home.

Water, not an issue right now. We didn't get anything from Thursday's storm, but Friday night we got an inch and then we got an inch and a quarter on Saturday night. That should last a few days. Lots of lighting from these storms, that is supposed to help some. Lightning hit a house about five miles from us Friday night and started a fire ... we don't need it that close. Then Saturday night there was a tornado about 15 miles from us, don't need that either.

Managed to pick a zucchini the right size on Thursday before we left, but missed a couple that had to have been within inches of where the one I picked was. Picked those two today but they are now twice the size my wife likes. And there is at least a couple more that should be ready tomorrow.

Maybe another three cherry tomatoes ready, none of the big ones yet.

One pepper plant has another three ready, but the bell peppers will be another week or so.

Did now see squash on both plants so promising there. And the egg plants are going to over produce. Some years I get one fruit from each plant, this year it looks like I will get a dozen each.

Weeded some of my flowers and something has been eating them after they are up also. Some are eaten off at a foot high ... others were eaten off at the ground.

Not sure if this will do any good in either case but I tried to fence up both my black berries and my morning glories. Used poles and bungee cords on the black berries to keep them off the ground and used some short garden fence on the morning glories. Should have put the fence for the morning glories up right away and right against the compost pile. I had planned on putting the fence against the compost pile now but forgot as I was trying to untangle the fence so it got put up where it landed.
