Do I need an 8 foot high fence?

I had three bell peppers left to fill out this year. Two of them had bites taken out of them last night. I have clipped the other one so that is safe in the house.

The cherry tomatoes on the plant next to it are all gone also. There were still a few dozen left that I was waiting to pick until the ripened. 2-3 days ago when I picked the last ones?

Also the tomato plant that was producing a lot of tomatoes, but most of them were split? That whole plant died in the last couple of days. So tonight I picked the last half dozen tomatoes and brought those inside also. A few weeks ago I was thinking I would be making tomato or V-8 juice this past week when I was home. Nope.

And after picking the last two, foot long zucchini ... that plant is now almost all dead. No fresh green leaves. A few that haven't shriveled up yet. Acorn squash is not too far behind.

Also noticed that the deer have been hopping my fence and eating the tops off my new planting of beans. That isn't a big deal, they were just there for green fertilizer. But they have also been eating my beet tops. And in some cases the beets are coming out of the ground when they grab the top.

Good news? My raspberries are still producing :) But I went to grab one of the ripe ones and an ant had beat me to it. I could have just brushed it off but I threw the berry instead. Not many. Half dozen maybe off of about that many plants. That area really didn't come back well this year.

Black berry vines are 10-20 feet long. Lots of vines. Zero berries. One more year.

Watermelon still look good. Time to start bringing some of this stuff in.

Forecast is for 33 on Thursday night, 34 on Friday and Sunday night.

My morning glories are getting easier to see. The deer have eaten the leaves off of all the stems you can see. So far they haven't eaten any off the taller vines in the back ground. Why don't they eat my blackberry leaves. Or now the strawberry leaves. Now that the strawberries are in no danger of dying.

Strawberries. I wanted to burn out a stump next to the garden before enlarging my garden/strawberry patch. But I have had three fires and not making much progress. That stump looks like an ice berg where only 1/8 is above the water/or ground and so far I haven't done much more than scar the surface. At this rate I could be getting rid of it faster by using sandpaper.
