2024 07 06 - More Evidence

Deer tracks in the (?) corn.

Not sure if the deer are doing much damage at this point or if they are just walking past.

Not sure there is much damage to do. This is where I have corn planted. In my other garden the corn is knee high plus. Here it is only a few inches high and most of the hills of corn are missing.

So far I have not weeded this area of the garden this year and this is all the weeds there are. Other places the weeds are a solid mat, fighting for sunlight.

This is where I weeded last night. Overnight something chewed off one of the vines of the water melon.

My guess is worms. Some of my corn has been chewed off the same way and there is a little dark area around the stalk first thing in the AM. Picture was taken before the vine started to wilt.

Not a big deal. By July, this water melon should have vines 3x-4x this long and be pushing out flowers.

Work has been slow so I have been spending a lot of time weeding the flower and fruit area's of my garden which some years do not get weeded at all.
