Picture: Milkweed patch

I had thought it was so dry that my milkweed didn't make it, but then I cut the grass around the milkweed and I found over a dozen. BUT something is doing some damage to them this year. Other years when the milkweed are bigger, the ants take over and turn the leaves a shade of black. This year there are 'leaks' up the side of the plant and all the plants look stunted. At least one of them has died but not sure from what.

Just off of one corner of this picture, I have been planting milkweed seeds for the last three years. So far, nothing. BUT it looks like I have a new patch of milkweed in with my strawberries. I have also thought about trying to transplant some from farm fields. I'll have to see what others have tried.

Nothing in my 'flower area' has come up that I planted. Not sure what to look for. It does look like all the yellow bee flower weeds that I transplanted all took so I have something in the area. Haven't started working on the edging. Still have piles of boards and bricks to lay down. Picked up some more that the neighbors had at the end of their driveway.

... and the 2nd planting of corn is mostly up. Some rows almost have a complete stand so now I am back to thinking that the seed is still good. Just something is getting it.
