Picture: My black berries, and the neighbors weeds in the background.
It seems like I kind of let things go this year but looking back I see other years also where I was hauling weeds to the compost with the wheel barrel.
In the foreground, I had planned on planting one more planting of corn but we were not home at the right time and I already had corn that should be coming ready about every week.
The mass in the center is my black berries. All old growth died so it is all new and coming up everywhere. Along with the weeds that grow quite well in that area.
There are also blue berries beyond the black berries that did almost nothing this year. No winter damage but no berries or growth either. One of the plants would still fit under a larger serving bowl and it is about five years old. I may have gotten a hand full of berries off of all six plants combined.
Weeds, the neighbors weeds. That was there well fenced garden. Used one or two years. Now it grows weeds that go to seed so I have something to do next year.
Below is a closer look at the mass of old stalks before I cleaned them out. I had to first get all the weeds out of the area so I could reach the stalks. A lot of them I ended up taking out in pieces because they were so inter-tangled.

Picture: Black berries, the old and the new. It made for good 'bunny cover.' Plan was/is to get the plants died to fence posts. Some day.
