PICTURE: Worked garden.

Slow going this spring. We were 'traveling' for the last two plus weeks plus the weather has been wet and cold so it is a slow start this year.

And I am getting older so it is a slow go once I do get started. I am still using a walk behind rototiller and I'm good for about a half hour at a time.

This year we were not around to rake our leaves in the fall or this spring either. So most of them either ended up in the neighbors yard or shriveled up to nothing. So my big compost bin is not anywhere close to full.

Before I rototilled this section I did cover it with compost from two years ago. Until I got to where the compost was still frozen. Almost mid-May and the compost was still frozen. So the rest of the garden will no get compost this year.

I did have time enough to level out enough area to plant my first planting of corn. I am still using seed from 5+ years ago, so far so good.

I didn't put straw down for my strawberry's but the leaves seem to be making a good bed so I did not rake that area.

On the way home this trip, we got a picture of four four wheel driver tractors that have been sitting by a farmers shed in IA for about two months, just waiting to get in the fields.

I do help a farm here in MN, so far I have gotten two and a half days in. And tomorrow we are heading out for another few days of 'travel.'

PICTURE: West garden. I have enough 'path material' for my flower area, it just is not set in place yet. The tall dried plants are last years garlic chives. It would be much easier if I would pull them before the new growth starts but that hasn't happened yet.
