PICTURE - My future flower / butterfly area. On the right of the picture just past the current fire ring is the old fire pit where milkweed have been growing the last few years.

This was yard that I worked under this week. My plan is to mark out nine (plus) spots for more milkweed and perennial flowers.

My plan is to have nine (plus) squares of plants. At least three of them will be milkweed. Not sure how the milkweed got started around our fire pit but it shouldn't be too hard to grow. I have picked two years of milkweed seed and plan on planting that before fall.

I think I am too late to plant the flowers for this year. I'm thinking of moving some weeds/flowers that I've let grow in another part of the garden to here. And plant some red clover. My chives will stay.

PICTURE - These are not perennial's, but each one of those black things where the flowers used to be are seeds and they will re-seed the area each year.

My peppers are still growing and some of them are now turning red. I haven't had that before except for hot peppers.

Sunflowers are done, egg plants are huge. Corn is done, the squirrels got the last of it.

PICTURE - One flower on my pea plants. This planting of peas is not as 'lush' as I expected, but there are a couple of dozen plants so we might get something.

The beans inside the fence are still producing, I pick them to keep the plants growing. No one in our house wants to eat them. More of a just in case crop and they are good for the soil.

I would like to plant beans where other early crops have been put unless they are inside the fence, the deer/bunnies eat them off before they get six inches high.
