I had to start with a little non-garden yard work this AM. We were gone for two days and a large branch blew down in our yard and I needed to use a chain saw to cut it up so I could move it. It was close enough to the house that I was able to use my electric chain saw by only using one power cord.
Next up I picked up (almost) all of the weeds I have been pulling and putting in stacks all over the garden. Two plus huge wheel barrel loads.
Once that was done I first helped my wife pick the squash and zucchini. Then I went through and picked another bowl of blue berries and a few raspberries. The only bush by the house that has any berries this year has only a few berries, but they are the biggest of any this year.
I still have a little time left so I planted, or re-planted flowers. As I was planting, I found sticks marking the rows so I knew I had planted something here before this year. It almost seems that The flowers fared better in the weeds. Either they were not eaten off ;) or they were shielded from the heat.
When I was weeding the flower area I ran out of time so today I basically just planted in the weeds. Hopefully I get the weeds pulled before the flowers come up. I may just cut the weeds so that I don't move the soil before the flowers come up.
... all this panting took more time than I had planned. Now I am running late to head out on vacation for a week.
We will see what the garden will look like then.
I saw silk on the corn, lots more squash and zucchini flowers. A few peppers, lots of tomatoes. And by then there should be more berries.
