Snows gone, temps almost hit 60 today, decided to take a look at the garden. After years of thinking that the deer were eating my blueberries, I finally decided a year ago it was the bunnies. So last fall I put bags over some of the smaller blueberry bushes and fenced them all in.

I had taken a picture of one of the bushes but it doesn't tell the story. My blueberries are in three different parts of my yard. Where I planted the first blue berries, I just double fenced them but did not bag the plants. The two smallest plants were eaten off again. These two bushes are almost 10 years old and still haven't had a chance to produce. The three other plants in that group are now over waist high and doing well. Wrong kind of fence? I don't know.

Last fall I had put straw over my new planting of strawberries, now I have raked the straw off the plants. Once they start growing I will place the straw back around the plants.

... I look the picture below the next day. That blueberry is either eight or nine years old, it should be six feet tall, not two feet tall.
