We came home yesterday afternoon. The rain gauge still showed over 4-1/2 inches and the last time it rained was over a week ago. Gauge only holds 5 inches so it may have been full to the top. Baldwin, about 20 miles away, got over 8 inches and lots of washed out roads and brides. No damage in my yard.

The above picture shows what happens when you tank an onion from the basement that has sprouted and re-plant it. You get six feet of plant, a bloom, but no onion. So into the compost pile.

In the back ground are the blue berries, beans and (under the beans) the peas we picked this AM. I planted the peas three feet from the other rows but I need to the same with the beans. All the rest of my rows are two foot.

I did a little weeding today also and managed to pull up an onion that was in some grass. Not store size, but any other year it might be one of my biggest ones. I do need to get out and hill the onions. Most / all are still looking good. One squash is really over taking one patch of onions.

Above is the zucchini. I left them plenty of room, but now the watermelon are moving in. Our daughter pulled out a few fruit on Monday and now there are plenty of flowers again.

This corn was supposed to be ready on July 1. It looks like it is about two weeks behind. Maybe next week. Right behind that is corn that should be ready on the 14th, I will have to look at it closer to see where it is at. And beyond that is corn that should be ready on the 25th. That corn is over six food high but no silks yet. Even the corn that is supposed to be ready the end of August is well over knee high.

We picked a few sauce bowls of blue berries this AM and the grand-kids had picked a few on Monday. This bush is still loaded with green ones. Some of the smaller bushes have very few this year. I'm OK with that, the good news is that I didn't loose any bushes last year so they are getting more established. IF I can find any on close out next week, I will try to add a few more.

In the back ground you can see one of my tomatoes, which is also over six feet high. No ripe fruit yet, but lots of green fruit. Not sure what we will do with it all.

Very few raspberries this year. Most all the old stalks died and they knew ones aren't producing yet. There are a massive amount of black berry vines this year after I trimmed out the old ones. Nothing blooming yet.

I did find a few Asian beetles today. A dozen or so, not enough to do any major damage.

The rain forecast for this area was rain last night and a good part of the day. So far it rained enough overnight to get the driveway wet and hasn't rained since. Got all my mowing done, but now I will need to water. Had planned on watering both AM and PM but the forecast was still for rain.

The strawberries are all gone. Picked clean. Better job than I could have done. But I do need to get out and weed them. That was the one area I did not keep weeded this year.

Now we are heading up to Lake Superior for a few days so we will see how the garden is doing when we get back. Then we are around for a week so HOPEFULLY we are eating sweet corn by then.

So far just one monarch caterpillar on my 14 plants. But there is still time.

My wife spent some time cleaning and freezing the peas and beans. Blue berries just went in the fridge and will be eaten shortly.
