Picture: Main entrance to cemetery.

Our main walk for today was at the Lake Carlos State Park. Then we had eaten at Stella's in Battle Lake. The plan had been to hike two state parks a day, but 'old age' had other ideas. By the time we were done eating, we were no longer up for doing a second hike today.

So we decided to visit a couple of cemeteries. The hikes are shorter and one of us can stay in the car if needed.

There was another cemetery in town but Find-A-Grave does not show a picture of the grave so often there is no marker. We did not stop at that cemetery.

Lakewood Cemetery is also right in town and only a few blocks from where we ate.

Once you leave the street and enter the cemetery, you are driving on grass with no sign of a trail, only a lack of markers.

Here we were looking for one unique upright marker and it was right at the cross of the two entrances. So only a few feet walking here.

Eagle Lake cemetery is a church cemetery a few miles south of Battle Lake. It is another cemetery that has less than 500 graves. There is not a map or grave location.

The pair of markers we were looking for were up right and unique so we were able to see them from the drive. Here the roads are not grass and well traveled.

The markers we were looking for were almost to the far road but were facing the other direction with no markings on the back. We were able to see them from the closer drive.

Our third Battle Lake cemetery was the Eagle Lake 'Free' Cemetery. It is only a few miles from the other Eagle Lake cemetery.

This is one of those cemeteries that is NOT on a main road. It is on a hill about a quarter mile off main road on a rarely traveled path. This path is not likely maintained in the winter and sitting on a hill surrounded by fields, it is very windy here where we had noticed the wind anywhere else today.

There is no sign saying identifying the cemetery but it is well maintained and has some newer graves. This cemetery has less than 100 graves and we are looking for close to 20 of them. So instead of looking for each first name I just looked for the last names. Ended up not finding one grave so we will need to be back.
